Do you know how hard it is to keep a secret from your best friend that you talk to ev.er.y.day? Turns out, hard. I ordered this last week and a few days via ups goes in slow motion when you are dying to see it. It's a 10x20 storyboard for her house on a 3/4 standout. I love it. These were my favorite pictures of her boys and I have been trying to find a way to display them creatively. This is a "thank you" that was deeply needed. I'll give you all the short version. Tommy opted out of his contract with the Nationals and decided to join the Marlins. (a.k.a. Jenn & Deb's perfect world) All is right in the world...the Murphys and the Macs together again. So, on Tommy's one day at home with his family, in between teams he offers to drive Dallas' truck from the Marlins facilities to their home (he was going there for his physical). Easy enough, right? Nope. Not with our family. Dallas has this cute little habit of leaving his cars on empty. And by empty I do not mean low fuel warning:30 miles left. No, I mean, turn off the a/c and pray as you drive to the nearest gas station. Hey, everybody has their flaws, right? I can see Tommy now just hoping to coast into the nearest bp. Thankfully he gets there. The next series of events are a mixture of wrong doings, but Tommy could not get the car cranked at all. We worried that it was the battery because it had sat in Florida so long. Hours later, 100 degree south florida heat later, AAA came and informed Tommy that it was Dallas' special alarm. So special, that if you do not disarm it first, it will not crank. This would have been good info for my hubby to share...but I love him. So, Tommy didn't get a lot of time with Deb & the boys because of his McPherson drama. Things like this always happen to Tommy. Infact, when Dallas called me that day he began the conversation with "you know how something's always happening to Tommy?" Well, the McPherson's happened to Tommy. He really needs to be more selective of his friends.
What did we all learn from this? Never offer to pick up a vehicle of Dallas' unless a gas station is nearby, I mean really nearby. Also, we have wonderful friends in the Murphys and appreciate their giving hearts. And, never try and split us up again. We find a way back together.
Hopefully Deb will locate her MIA memory card, put it in her camera and snap a photo. I haven't seen the finished product and I hope it looks good on her wall.
Murphys, we love you and cherish your friendship.
Both D-Mac and Tommy should write into their next contracts that they are a "package deal" and are not to be split up or else the clubs will suffer the wrath of the baseball widows.
ReplyDeleteThe wording can go like this:
Let it be known that Dallas McPherson and Tommy Murphy (PLAYERS) must sign a joint contract in which the PLAYERS remain on the same team throughout their entire career.
Additionally, the wives of the PLAYERS must be allowed to live in the same city (CITY) as their husbands and the PLAYERS must be allowed to spend time with their families.
I'm no contract negotiator, but something like that....
Jenn, thank you soooo much it is absolutely beautiful. Tommy is going to hang it today and I will send you a pic(i finally got a new memory card)! You friendship means the world to us and I am so glad that we are back together again! Who would of thought that this would happen. Nathan I love your comment and we are going to have to make sure the Marlins are aware of this!! Love you ALL! Deb
