Do you know what's the best part about turning one?

The clearance to eat all the good food that isn't out of a jar?
Nope.
The go ahead for milk instead of formula?
Nah.
How bout bumping up to the One year old's nursery at church?
Nuh. Uh.
Turning the carseat forward? Ding. Ding. Ding.

More than I have been longing for an NSYNC reunion tour, I have been awaiting the day that we could turn the carseat around. No more breaking her neck to watch the DVD player and no more feet cramped against the back of the seat. The day she turned one (literally) Meme ran out and turned both carseats around. We laughed so hard at her the first time we put her in. She first kicked her feet a lot as if to say "Hey, I actually have room to move." Then she looked at the DVD player like "Did it move?" and the best, she kept waving and then giving me weird stares thinking "Mom, have you always been up there driving???" So funny. We wanted to turn this thing around so many times (especially on the long trips) but I was not pulling a britney. No, I can read. Where it says one year AND 20 pounds, not one year OR 20 pounds. If that had been the case this chick would have been facing forward months ago. So, at last, my babygirl can see the road ahead. She is loving it.
On another note, Reese had her one year check up yesterday. We loved seeing Michelle. It's so nice when your doctors office loves your baby. She even cracked up laughing when the nurse pricked her toe. So weird, right? It cracked the nurse up. So, here's our stats:
weight:26lbs 97 percentile
length: 31 inches 91 percentile
head:19 inches  98 percentile
Yes, we have a little dallas.
Michelle's first question was "Is she walking everywhere now?" She remembered that Reese was walking around holding walls at 8 months. As we're talking she is watching Reese walking all over the room, still slightly holding onto something nearby. She then asks if Reese pulls on her ears. I said not really. We have only had one ear infection since she was born. She takes one glance in her ear and says, yep, that's what I thought. Gasp. "What? What's in there?" cries the panic stricken mom. Her tympanic membrane is retracted bilaterally. Eh? She has no infection, but this causes her balance to be slightly off. Hence, the fact that Reese has been walking flat footed since forever. She's referred us to an ENT. Maybe tubes in the ears, but who knows. This sure explains a lot. She said she would have taken off a long time ago if she had not had this problem. Makes sense. So, we're headed to get to the bottom of this little ear issue asap. I'm not complaining, though. I am thankful for her health everyday. Other than than, the chick is a busy bee. We got the go ahead on eating anything we want once Michelle saw her smile. She was amazed at how many teeth we're sporting these days. So, for documentation only, we're giving you a quick glimpse into Reesie's mouth (I'm sure this is what everyone wants to know, right?) Here's what we're chompin with these days...centrals, laterals and molars. Twelve teeth total.
And, as if this blog is not ridiculously long enough, some pics from our storytime/music session at the library today. She loves this. Here, the teacher asked "Where is the bumble bee?" Here was Reese's reply all the way from the back of the room...
She gets very serious while we listen to her read.
But then, lookout, when the the music played, the girl was stompin away. We had a blast. Whew, just another Wednesday. See you tomorrow. I have some great pictures of Reese coming soon (as soon as I find the time to edit them) but they are fun. Truly worth the wait. Something for you to look forward to towards the end of the week...til then, here's some pics of our time with the Braddys last week.

  1. Love the car seat turn around! Such a relief. A plus about being here...NO car seats! If we stay the whole season + playoffs Dane will have less than a month left to ride backwards. Sweet!

  2. You are so good to wait to turn the car seat around. I have to tell the truth, all my kids turned early. Bad Mom I know. Reese is such a doll.
