on the eve of your second birthday

I feel like I wrote those same words last month, not last year.
I can remember just wanting to learn so much about you then. In a year, I feel like I've been handed so many answers.
You are terribly funny. No, really, you've been sarcastic since I can remember. You give an award winning stink eye. You repeattedly say "Oh, Man" and Oh, Shoot" and most recently care of Gigi herself "Oh, Lordy."
You laugh like it hurts you all the time. You are ticklish everywhere and anything, dancing, jumping, peekaboo can make you laugh til you can't breathe.
You can skip like a champ. Megan taught you this in Spring Training and girl, you are rockin it now. You wake up skipping. Seriously, out of bed, on the potty & skip through the house.
You are a TALKER. I fear this was handed down straight from me. You're never quiet. You know all of your colors, any object, everyone's name, all your animals and you can officially say "Mama, you pretty." (that one will get you far in life, very far...)
You are a dancer. Why have I not blogged your dancing? You yell dancin, dancin, turn on your Christian music (which has your name in every song, which is probably why you love it so) and you dance. You even shout "God loves me" during the song. Your latest boogie is your Dora "did it" dance. You saw it once and now you rock it like you own it. You yell "I did it!!!" and you twist like Chubby Checker.
You have a way with people. You love them right away. You pull their finger (to let them know right off that you are in charge), you learn their name and you include them in your little life...I adore that.
I love how much you love Tigger and Pooh and Mickey's Clubhouse Gang. You know everyone's name, sing the song at the end of MMC and you get really mad with Pete, "No, Pete."
You amazed me how fast you were potty trained. No effort involved. You went from the little potty to the big one in 3 weeks. Perhaps my favorite part (which you invented yourself) is how potty is, in fact, called "toot." I love to hear "I toot, Reesie, toot!!" I love even more when we are in a public bathroom and you yell "Mama toot!!" That is especially nice...
You sleep with all of your babies and you name them as they come to bed.
You pray for all of your friends with your hands tight together and your eyes half open. You even throw in extras like "Sugar" the Braddy's dog.
You love Rookie. Everyday, you get in his face and wave your hand with a tight little wave and say..."Hi, Rooks, Hi Rooks." You grab him a treat and yell "Sit. Place." (We say place for him to go to bed.)
You truly believe it is normal to have 6 parents. We're all wondering what will happen when you realize Boo, D, Gigi and Papa are not parents too. You have spent everyday of your life with your fan club and I wouldn't have it any other way.
You love ball, especially soccer. You kick a soccer ball so good! It cracks us up. Who taught you? Who in our family gives a rip about soccer? No one. Yet, you can kick it back to anyone and really good!
You amaze us everyday babygirl. All six of your parents are having the time of our lives with you. What was life like before 7.7.7? I don't even care. All I know is this. God had changed my life three times in 31 years.
The day I took him in my heart.
The day I married your daddy.
The day I gave birth to you.

Good things sure come in threes...

See you tomorrow birthday girl.

  1. Yay! HAPPY BIRTHDAY REESE!!! I can not believe she is going to be 2! I loved reading this post. I know that I have only met you and your darling Reese through blogging--but I feel like I know you and her so well. I love to read your posts about her, because I feel the exact same way about my little Lyla. Our littles would just love each other! Anyway, I hope that you have a lovely 2nd Birthday tomorrow...and God Bless you on this exciting new year! Perhaps one day when you make it back to Arizona we can meet for real-for real! ;) Until then, I will continue to catch up with the blog! hugs! Anna

We can't believe our little bug is turning 2, seems like we were just praying for you to hurry and get here so we could meet you. One day you will realize you don't have 6 parents and then you will know you have the coolest aunt and uncle ever. We love you to pieces.
