hospital dating...

Not quite as romantic as Houston's and a movie but this is what we were handed, so we're living it up!
I think so many couples would be a mess going through all that Dallas has the past 5 years. Micro fracture surgery in 2005, Spinal Fusion in 2007 and now this in 2009. I can honestly say, it never has affected him or us. Sure, life threw him a curve ball (pardon the pun) when he became the guy who's really good when's he healthy. He just amazes me. God sure only throws you the things you can handle. He handles it unbelievable. Really. Surgery again? Sure! Rehab? Sure! I think it makes our marriage stronger. We have hilarious memories in hospital rooms, me helping him when he can"t move, rental cars, random cities...we just have fun together. We flew in to Dallas yesterday and you would think we would be a little down with surgery ahead. Wanna know what we were doing??? We rented a car and they told us we could pick from the row outside, any in the mid size section. We both looked, stopped, looked at each other and said...we've got to rent the VW bug!! Hilarious. Once we got in and were cracking up, we decided against it based on the fact that we looked just like the couple from "Just Married" in the flintstones car. 6'4 people need not drive a bug...especially ones having surgery! I was concerned as to how I would get him in it since he can't bend after surgery. About 40 minutes later we narrowed down our picks and drove off laughing the whole way.
We waited for 4 hours before surgery and fell asleep in the hospital bed together. His surgery was 4 hours. The longest of my life. Last time we were in this same hospital and I was 4 months pregnant crying. This time, no preggo but the tears came when they wheeled him back. He is my life.
Finally, I saw him 6 hours later. The recovery nurse said he kept asking for his wife, where's my wife?? I wasn't allowed back. I quickly ran to Chick-fil-A to grab us dinner (b/c chickfila makes everything better) and then I saw him! We have sat in this hospital room laughing, eating way too much, watching movies, cuddling and missing Reese. We imitate her all day. We've talked to her on the phone a hundred times a day...the girl is a TALKER! Seriously! She's having a ball with Gigi, Papa, Boo & D.
Dallas is great. Dr.Dossett is awesome and he found a lot that explains Dallas' pain. He had bone growing all over his nerve on his right side and a really back herniated L4 disc.
Thank you for all the prayers and phone calls. We are very blessed!
We fly home Monday just in time for Reesie cup's 2nd birthday! YAY! We can't wait to be back with our baby girl.
Since I have meant to post these pics from forever ago in AZ, I'll through them in now. When we lived there the Treece's and Nielsen's were family and we were with them all the time. Dallas has spent all of his Sunday's with them and we were of course with them when we went to visit! So sorry for the poopy photography. These are snapshots. I want to capture the moments even if the photography stinks.
It was Christian and Carson's birthday too so it was a perfect time to hang out!
McKinley rode around with us so her and Reese could party in the backseat...

Blowing out the candles...

Eden & Reese were watching the boys make their birthday wishes...

Reese being a ham...the girl has a million faces...this is a silly one...

Being goofy as usual...

Playing with McKinley, Truely & Peighton...

Laughing with her Gramma Margo. We love hanging out at Fred & Margo's...

After dinner, Dallas and Marc took all the kiddos outside to play games. Reese was right in the middle of the action...

We attempted a group shot. It cracks me up where Reese placed herself. Sure, climb right up!

We just love them so much! Happy 4th to everyone. Word on the street (aka the 8th floor) is that we are going to have front row seats to the fireworks this evening...score! Everyone's 4th of July dreams...a hospital bed and fireworks! We'll take it...

  6. I'm so sorry to hear about Dallas' back, but I'm so glad the surgery went well. I can only imagine what a wreck you were worrying during a 4 hour surgery! I don't think I could have made it! I would have passed out or broke threw the doors! Man, you're a strong women. Y'all are so sweet, cuddling in the hospital bed. What a great couple!
