As I was headed out interstate 85 towards Alabama I felt like I was in college again. I was jammin out to music. (I actually was a good 20 minutes into my ride before I realized I was listening to DORA on dvd (which I can't even see). I am all into that new Casey Donahew Band song. Have you heard it? Maybe it's because I was headed to Alabama but I LOVE it... Sure to bring out the redneck in anyone and make you want to be on the front row at their concert.
Baby Carlee was so cute and I had a blast with Michelle, her mom, sweet grandparents, Casey's family...everyone! I'll post pics soon.
I got in late Saturday and then Sunday we drove up to my Dad's for a Papa day. We went to lunch and then all drove up to Cleveland, Georgia to visit babyland General. Remember Cabbage Patch kids? OMG me and my sister loved them. No, really. Everytime we were in Toys R US, Walmart we looked at them to see if a baby had our exact name (which I'm surprised wasn't more often since Boo and I have names like everyone else...) I can even remember going as a kid and picking out my baby Karson. (which Reese loves to play with a Gigi's)
They have a new location as of a few months ago. It's so cute. They have a huge hospital, nurses, doctors, delivery rooms and lots of baby cabbages! Best part...it's free (well, until you walk through with a 2 year old that needs one.more.doll. and has a Papa that gets her everything)
I really didn't take a lot but here's a few from our day at Babyland...
Looking at some of the older babies in the Nursery with her favorite guys...

There were several rooms like this filled with cribs and a million babies. I couldn't get a picture. She was like a kid on crack she was so excited to see so many...

This is where they are born (the cabbage tree)

IV for the newborns (or maybe that's drugs for the mother cabbage to get through the birth)...

Watching a birth...you get to help name the baby..it was a girl!

Nursery where she was weighed, bathed, etc...

She did lots of running around the place, picking up every baby. She loved this one. Dallas wanted to get her this little girl. Can you imagine Reese being the sole maintainer of that hair? Really??? Poor child...

She pushed strollers around, stole bathtubs, bottles, everything...

Here was one of the cabbage patch's that we could choose babies from...(the cabbages move too...really cool)

Close up. At any given time, Papa, daddy & mommy all found cute babies and yelled things like "ooohh, I like her...." or "you should get this one it has on a baseball uniform..." Uhm, she chose a "dirl" that had on of of those outfits you get at your baby shower and then hide far, far back in the closet never to be seen again...(you know you've all done it.)

And the ride home. Reese has never taken a paci. Mainly because she was a thumb sucker the first 4 months of life (the other b/c her Gigi hates them on kids past the baby stage! Your secrets out...) but ever since Baby Grace left Reese is obsessed. Every night of her life she does a fake sleeping baby act (the girl needs an agent) and now, her new prop is a paci. It wasn't just 6 months ago that one of her babies came with one and she asked us (very serious) "what is this???"Now, she needs one to sleep...

She's holding the newest addition to the McPherson family, baby Ruby Belle McPherson. Her birthday is July 7. (that's odd) and I would have a pic of her birth announcement but I left it in the backpocket of Papa's truck (daddy if you could just hold onto that for us!). Reese likes Ruby but her Daddy asked the nurses what the "hot" name of 2010 was and it was Bella. So, he took that and came up with Belle. (Reese does love Belle from Beauty and the Beast) Great job Daddy, another southern name in the family. Nothing screams "I'm from the south" more than "Ruby Belle." Oh, dear...
Thanks Papa for a great time!!
On another note, I have officially blogged this month as much as last. Whoo hoo! That is an accomplishment people. Only goes up from there!

ReplyDeleteFunny, I hate the paci after baby stage too... but were into deep now! Hopefully the binky fiery comes within the year!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they had moved! I love Babyland General! Can't wait to take my little stinker...
ReplyDeleteI am honestly in awe... I was and still am in LOVE with Cabbage Patch Dolls. I had no idea that there was a real Babyland General...that is it we have to take Lyla! ;) I loved all the photos, Reese must have been in heaven--I think I would have wanted to pick my own CPK too! haha.
ReplyDeleteThat's the cutest place ever!
ReplyDeleteI had NO idea a place like this even existed! Oh how my sister and I loved our cabbage patch dolls. My brother decided to give "Mabel" a bruise one day and she is forever scarred with a sharpie blob on her forehead. It was devastating! What a fun place...Reese is a lucky girl to get to visit there!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am with Jina on the paci...Dane is addicted and he's 2. UGH! Neither of my other boys took one. The poor third child. Jina, you might want to hold onto it for that flight to Japan!
So adorable! Thanks for all the photos. It feels like I was there. Ruby Belle is a fantastic name!
ReplyDeleteJenn, Keep in touch with your plans to come to town. I didn't even put the A's and you being in Scottsdale together a few mos. ago. Then Brian reminded me we parked at the stadium for a trip to the zoo. Duh! Will you be here for Spring Training?
ReplyDeleteI hope my "stuff" goes away like yours! No Vasoline for me...only Lanolin! Just when I thought I was down with the boob cream...nope!
Oh my gosh, I want to go there!!! It looks like more fun than American Girl;-0
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting that paci away! She is adorable
So I just found your blog. I love your photography and could look at it forever! This post about Cabbage Patch Land brought back wonderful memories for me!!! The last time I was there I was either 8 or 9 (maybe 10) and named the baby "born" while I was there Christopher. I still remember the smell and all of the babies. I never wanted to leave. Thanks for the reminder of wonderful memories!
