Birthday Boy

We nursed him from 6 weeks of age.
He's cost us more than college tuition.
He's 140 lbs of pure, spoiled rotten.
He has a better life than most humans.
and yesterday we celebrated his 4th birthday.  Our first born turned 4.  Where does the time go, really?  I can remember being in Newport Beach.  He was 8 months old.  A holy terror.  He would bite my head and then run sprints around our townhouse.  I would arrive at the games late, with teary eyes all because of a maniac bullmastiff.  I know the other wives (with actual children) thought I was on crack. Thank goodness time heals all wounds.  It also makes a rowdy puppy a big bum.  Our big baby is 28! (which Dallas was kind enough to point out made him and Dallas still younger than me...) And we celebrate with a song and a doggy cake full of yummy mush.  He couldn't of been happier...
We love you Rookie.

all is right

in the world when daddy is home.  I get 100 percent of him all day making these past 6 months worth the distance.  Reese gets to fall in love with the guy she adores again. Rookie gets to hand over his "man of the house" crown and gets lots of much needed belly rubs.  Everyone is happy. Everyone feels complete.  Reese watched Elmo this morning while awaiting her prince.  She thought she'd represent while she had the chance.  It melted his heart when he saw her this morning.  All we can ask for is an off season filled with mornings just. like. this.

clean up.

Today was full of organization and tidiness.  It was time for Daddy's coming home boot camp. Gigi, mommy and Reesie all took part...making room for Daddy and his stuff.  We are all so excited to get him back here everyday and to go househunting...yay.  Reese took part in every step and even climbed the ladder in Gigi's closet.  She had fun playing in her pj's....

She likes to dust.  Oh, that, and pull out drawers of perfectly folded clothes.  At least she's keeping busy!

Florida in pictures

What a great trip. Below are just a hand full of our pics from a wonderful family vacation in south Florida. Our life is a blessing. Reese is the center of our universe (excluding Jesus, just throwing that in) and continues to bring a smile to our faces each day. She had a grand time. The games, daycare, playing downstairs after games, papa time, gigi time, mama and daddy, swimming, shopping, of course, eating...the list goes on and on. What a wonderful week. I look forward to many more (after some much needed r&r, of course) . She even had time for some kisses...again.
Enjoy this montage of our trip...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Not in a New York state of mind.

Maybe I am.  Mentally, but not physically.
Long story.
Let's see...how can I elaborate?
I go to the airport yesterday evening.  Not a cloud in the sky. Dallas calls and informs me of a HUGE storm hitting Washington (where he is) the game is delayed, 30 mph winds, it's hitting New York when I am supposed to land. It is going to pour all weekend long. Great.
I go ahead as scheduled.  Check in.  Check my bag.  My flight is delayed an hour.  I hear whispers at my gate of bad weather all weekend.  The weather channel says 100 percent chance of storms all weekend.  Dallas calls and says they may not get out of DC tonight.  Plus, he will spend Friday at the field, have a rainout and probably a doubleheader Saturday.  No time together, rain, stress.
He never freaks out.  It's always me.  I wear the worry hat in this family.  I had never seen him so worried.  He was worried about losing me, Reese having no mother.  I found myself texting him: raise Reese like a princess and remarry someone heavier than me.
Drama.
We have a lot of it.  So, I went with my gut.  Got my bag.  Headed home to Reesie cup.  Of course, their game in DC was cancelled and they flew in earlier that night.  Figures.  I was so looking forward to NY.  It's my favorite trip.  I used to fly in a day early just to shop and walk the city.  Plus, I had made such good friends with the wives and we were all meeting up. Summer called and we were so sad.  We had plans. It was set up to be a great trip.  There is a reason, I'm sure.  I think it's all becoming clear...Dallas called this morning with  flu like symptoms and thinks he has the 24 hour bug that the clubhouse is passing around.  Reese woke up with a fever and we headed to the doctor.  Michelle could not believe how much Reese had grown!  Reese is ok.  It's just a teething fever.  Her i teeth are coming in.  She could not believe the amount of teeth Reese has.  She already has her two year molars. Good...she can eat anything!  So, I'm here.  I get to hang with the chick and catch up on my much needed editing. Maybe I needed the rest.  Maybe I was going to get busted scalping my game ticket....who knows.  I do know one thing.  Dallas' girls will be waiting on his arrival Sunday night.  The countdown begins.
I'll post again later...

Two posts in one:

First off, In honor of the Oprah Show today, we (reese & mommy) decided to give Rookie some much needed props for his array of talents. Reese likes to give her big bro a chance to shine every once in a while, just as long as the spotlight returns to her shortly after...hence the second post on Reese below. So, without further adu, our talented oldest child...

Post #2:
Being a Girl:
I guess one of the milestones of being a girl is the day you wear your first lipgloss, makeup, jewelry. Oh, I can already see my life flashing before my eyes...yikes. Well, this little stinker already reached one-she is a lipgloss lover! Especially Gigi's. At night, before bed, she would go in Gigi's purse and snatch a quick gloss. Hey, a girl's gotta look good even if it is bedtime.

The only problem is, she would rather taste it than wear it. Guess we're going to have to check into some organic lipstick, huh?

I'm not sure if this is a girl thing, trying to take control of everything-by herself!! Or if she's in touch with her Dallas side, but this girl can work DVD player like a champ. If she figures out Madden this off season man am I in trouble...

I'm headed to New York City! Off to see Dallas play the Mets! It's the final games in Shea Stadium. Will people judge me if I admit that I would rather sell my tix for a mean profit rather than actually go to the games? I'm all for it. If only I could get the NYC police to jump on board...

Daddy time

It's the best. What she has longed for. Her #1 guy. She travels far and wide to spend minutes with him. She dreams of him at night. Admires his pictures in her room. Knows there is no one like him anywhere else on this earth. Finally, she got to snuggle him for 10 days in a row. And in 4 more days she can snuggle him every second of everyday.

His kisses are the best and he even draws on her Elmo board.

So sweet...

Pretending they are cooking together. Yum.

On Sunday, sweet baby girl, you get your favorite guy back.

Murphys Birthday

As luck would have it, we were in Florida just in time for Tyler & Dylan's birthday party. So exciting. I can still remember Deb's pregnancy with Tyler (when we met). I can not believe they are 3 and 5 now. Such grown little guys! The minute we found out we made our plans. Last Saturday, Mom, Dad, Reese and I all headed up to Tommy and Deb's house. We had to come before the party started to get back in time for the game that night. We had such a great time. I didn't realize that I did not take a ton of pics of the kids until I got them loaded on my computer. We spent to much time socializing and making sure no kids landed in the pool unsupervised-crazy us.
Reese had a blast. She swam with the boys. Not only did we get to see Dylan and Tyler, we also saw JT and Haley. Since we all played together we've only seen them at our wedding and in Tampa in 06. They are wonderful people. They also have two boys so Reese was once again, surrounded by little men. She always gets to be the only chick. I don't think she minds! Aunt Deb gave Reese some jewelry which she is sporting around the house today and we got to see the boys open our presents. I wish we all lived closer. The Murphys and Macs might not spent a day apart! Once again, Reese got kisses from some cute boys. Tommy was loving that he can to tell Dallas his boys were kissing Reese. Deb and I are looking forward to their marriage. We'll take either one. I keep telling Reese Deb would be a great mother-in-law and we wouldn't give her any drama together. We'll see if our plan pans out. Here's a few snaps of our fun Saturday together!
Gigi applies my sunscreen. Thanks for looking out for me Gigi!

Talking to Gigi and my Aunt Deb...

I love the Murphys...

Deb works hard to make this Carnival party a smash!! She is so creative!!

Grady having a snack!

Tyler heading down the slide and into the kiddie pool with Reese...

Handsome little Dylan looking for some lunch before the party starts....

Deb and Tommy putting the last minute touches on the cake...

Ta. Da!! Deb's Ferris Wheel Cake! DO you think the boys will look back and remember this extreme effort this mama went to? We need to add a chick in the mix of the Murphy Crew..a girl would love this!

Deb and Haley made these mini caramel apples. Are they not adorable??

I took a few more that I'm sending Deb's way now. We had such a great time Murphs! Also, Haley and JT, you guys are amazing with two adorable little guys! It was great to see Mary too! We love you all. Now you have to travel to Georgia for Reese's next party. Oh, I'm thinking Tommy signs with the Braves next year...We could swap houses. I've got everyone's life plan figured out.
